We always need to be detoxifying properly by ensuring the channels of elimination in us are working well. Detoxification becomes even more important when an active disease process like cancer is present.
Toxins are generated in the body everyday just from normal metabolism. The presence of an active disease process will create additional toxins on top of these.
The more toxins that are present in a body, the greater the toxin load, and in turn, the greater the demand for nutrients in order to detoxify properly.
Diet & lifestyle habits such as what we eat & drink, sleep, movement, stress, and toxin load, each affect how well we will be able to detoxify. The more we adopt diet & lifestyle habits that support our health, the better we will be at detoxifying.
We have heard all of this before – particularly around how we should be eating healthy food. What isn’t discussed nearly as much as WHY we should eat healthy food. Many of the negative health repercussions of eating processed foods go on behind the scenes in us and are not immediately obvious.
I created the table below as guidance on how diet & lifestyle habits can best support health in general and detoxification specifically, along with the rationales for why I recommend these habits.
Daily diet & lifestyle habits that support proper detoxification in the body

Note that detoxification in different from doing a cleanse. A cleanse is a short-term alteration of diet habits that is usually focused on cleansing the digestive tract. Detoxification takes a more wholistic view of supporting health that goes beyond just the digestive tract. Detoxification is also something that is happening every day.
I use energy medicine to help the body detoxify by ensuring the channels of elimination are working well. Being able to detoxify well is important for everyone but is particularly important for someone dealing with an active disease process such as cancer.
